Leicester sign Chelsea teenager Michael Golding

Leicester have signed teenage midfielder Michael Golding on a four-year deal from Premier League rivals Chelsea for an undisclosed fee, the club announced on Sunday.

The 18-year-old made one senior appearance at Chelsea, coming on as a substitute in the London club’s 4-0 FA Cup win over Preston in January. I’m really looking forward to making leaps and bounds in my career here at Leicester and working hard to help the team as much as I can,” Golding told the newly-promoted Foxes’ website.

Leicester defied pre-season odds of 5,000/1 to win the 2015/16 Premier League title and lifted the FA Cup in 2021, with Golding adding: “Obviously the history of the club speaks for itself. There are great players here and I’m looking to soak up as much information as I can from the senior players, to learn from the staff and hopefully have a great season.” Golding captained England at the 2023 European Under-17 Championships in Hungary and has also been capped at Under-16 and Under-18 level.
