Court to deliver judgment on Zuma’s legal fees

The North Gauteng High Court will deliver judgment on whether former President Jacob Zuma will have to pay for his legal fees.

The Democratic Alliance and the Economic Freedom Fighters have asked the court to declare that it was illegal for the state to pay Zuma’s legal costs.

The parties want the agreement authorising state funding for Zuma’s defence in criminal cases, set aside.

So far the state has paid up to R32-million in legal costs for Zuma.

The former president faces charges of fraud, corruption, money laundering and racketeering in connection with the arms deal.
