Lebo M worked on a special song for The Lion King soundtrack with none other than Beyoncé Queen B voices the role of Nala in the live-action remake of the Disney classic.
Not only does she perform one of the film’s most popular songs, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, but she also worked with Lebo on a track called TBA.
The South African producer and composer wrote TBA with the Grammy award winner.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Lebo says he did not spend much time with Queen B in the studio but their collaboration turned out perfect.
Here were many different parts to the song and so I found a lot of elements, including some of her work, already in place. It was just about putting everything together. The whole package is quite exceptional,” he says. Lebo also produced the vocal arrangement for the track “It went from a good song to a good song for The Lion King.” TBA is not the only song he features on.
Lebo, who also worked on the 1994 classic, worked on the Circle of Life/ Nants’ Ingonyama (with Lindiwe Mkhize) and Mbube (The Lion Sleeps Tonight) for the soundtrack.
His song He Lives In You also features on the soundtrack. Lebo told the publication he performs the track completely in isiXhosa.
The composer is not the only South African who is involved in the new The Lion King movie John Kani voices the role of Rafiki. The live-action version of the movie makes its big screen debut in South Africa on July 19.
