LCC buries 87 unclaimed bodies

THE Lusaka City Council (LCC) has in the first half of 2020 buried 87 unclaimed bodies compared to 71 buried during the same period in 2019.
LCC Public Relations Manager George Sichimba said the latest burial of 28 bodies was conducted yesterday at Chingwere cemetery following the expiration of the 14 days notice.

“Yesterday’s burial was the third this year that the Council was burying unclaimed bodies bringing the total to 87,”Mr Sichimba said.

“In February this year, Lusaka City Council (LCC) in partnership with the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church, Garden Congregation of Midlands West Zambia Conference in Mandevu Mission District, have buried 25 unclaimed bodies at Chingwere cemetery”.

Sichimba said that in April, LCC in conjunction with the Funeral Service Providers Association of Zambia buried 34 bodies at the same cemetery.
He added that during the first half of last year the first list contained 28 bodies, “the second had 20 and the third had 23 bodies totaling 71.”
