EFF to meet ANC top brass over land expropriation

The EFF says it’s going straight to the top to resolve an impasse on amending the Constitution to pave the way for land expropriation without compensation.

It’s told Parliament’s ad hoc committee that it will be meeting the ANC’s top six on Wednesday.

The EFF are the kingmakers in this protracted battle to amend the Constitution, but it says ANCs MPs are not doing enough to win them over.

The EFF wants state custodianship of all land, to refuse compensation on expropriation, and for the courts to be excluded in disputes.

The DA and Freedom Front Plus, meanwhile, are standing firm that zero compensation is unacceptable.

Parties now have until Tuesday to share their amended positions before returning to the negotiating table.
