Implementeer en bestuur laboratoriumwerk wat met kliniese navorsing en ander projekte verband hou. Implementering en bestuur behels onder meer die volgende:

Skakeling met eksterne laboratoriums soos Bio Analytical Research Corporation South Africa (BARC) en die Nasionale Gesondheidslaboratorium (Eng. NHLS);
Interne skakeling – met DTTS kliniese spanne (ook hoofnavorsers en projekkoördineerders) en die DTTS-laboratoriumspan;
Opstelling van laboratoriumspesifieke kontrakte en dokumente;
Voorbereiding vir interne laboratorium-opleidingsessies;
Invul van laboratorium-gevallestudieverslae (GSV’s);
Nasien van laboratoriumdata.
Formuleer ’n stel standaardbedryfsprosedures (SBP’s) vir die laboratoriumomgewing, en oefen beheer oor die verskillende weergawes daarvan uit;
Vaslegging van monsters op die laboratoriuminligtingsbestuurstelsels (Eng. LIMS);
Tree op as primêre kontakpersoon op uitroepdiens oor alarms rakende biobewaringsvrieskaste;
Hulpverlening met die instandhouding van die laboratoriumtoerusting op die perseel
Verseker dat die perseel aan alle laboratoriumverwante regulatoriese vereistes voldoen;
Hulpverlening met die prosessering, bewaring en vervoer van biologiese monsters vir navorsing (bv. bloed, sputum en urine) soos nodig;
Voer mikrobiologiese TB-toetse op ’n verskeidenheid monsters uit, onder meer op stoelgang;
Verskaf ondersteuning aan ander laboratoriumtegnoloë by die Brooklyn Hospitaal vir Borskwale-eenheid en die Kuilsrivier-perseel;
Hulpverlening met ander laboratoriumbedrywighede, byvoorbeeld gehalteversekering.

Implementing and managing laboratory work related to clinical research studies and other projects. Implementation and management include:

Liaising with external laboratories such as Bio Analytical Research Corporation South Africa (BARC) and National Laboratory Health Services (NHLS);
Liaising internally – with DTTC clinical teams (including principal investigators and study coordinators) and the DTTC lab team;
Drawing up lab-specific contracts and documents;
Preparing internal laboratory training sessions;
Completing laboratory case report forms (CRFs);
Reviewing laboratory data.
Compiling and performing version control of laboratory-related standard operating procedures (SOPs);
Capturing specimens on laboratory information management systems (LIMS);
Serving as primary contact person for any callouts regarding biorepository freezer alarms;
Helping to maintain laboratory equipment at the site;
Ensuring site compliance with all laboratory-related regulatory procedures;
Assisting with the processing, storage and transport of biological research samples (e.g. blood, sputum and urine) when required;
Performing TB microbiological tests on a variety of samples, including stool;
Acting as backup for other laboratory technologists at the Brooklyn Chest PK unit and the Kuils River site;

Assisting with other laboratory activities such as quality assurance.

n Drie-jaar tersiêre kwalifikasie in die biologiese, mediese, gesondheids- of lewenswetenskappe;
Ervaring in ’n navorsingsomgewing, veral van die hantering van monsters en van gehaltekontrolering en -versekering;
Ervaring met laboratoriuminligtingsbestuurstelsels (LIMS) soos Laboratory Data Management Systems (LDMS) en REDCap;
Uitmuntende rekenaargeletterdheid in Microsoft Word, Excel en Outlook, en die bestuur van veelvoudige lêers en voulêers;
’n Besef van die belang van akkurate protokoltoepassing;
Uitmuntende navorsingsvaardighede en die vermoë om op besonderhede te let;
Goeie tydsbestuur- en beplanningsvaardighede;
Die vermoë om onafhanklik te werk;
Sterk interpersoonlike vaardighede en die vermoë om in ’n span te funksioneer;
’n Buigsame benadering tot probleemoplossing wat by ’n voortdurend veranderende omgewing kan aanpas, en die vermoë om inisiatief te neem;

A three-year tertiary qualification in biological, medical, health or life sciences;
Experience in a research environment, especially of sample handling and of quality control and assurance;
Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) such as Laboratory Data Management Systems (LDMS) and REDCap;
Excellent computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and management of multiple files and folders;
Awareness of the importance of accurate protocol implementation;
Excellent investigative skills and attention to detail;
Good time management and planning skills;
The ability to work autonomously;
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to function in a team;
A flexible approach to problem-solving that is adaptable to a constantly changing environment, and the ability to show initiative;
Effective organizational and administrative skills;
A valid driver’s license and own transport;
Good written and verbal communication skills in English;
Willingness and availability to work flexible hours.
