Survivors are speaking out after a tragic wall collapse in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal.

Thirteen congregants perished when the wall of a church collapsed on them during evening prayers ahead of Easter.

Congregants had been sleeping inside the hall when the side wall structure collapsed following heavy rainfall.

It was meant to be a time of praise and worship. But, disaster struck.

Survivors like Busisiwe Zikhali are grateful to be alive.

“I think I was saved by the fact that some people fell on top of me. I asked them to move because I was also injured by bricks, I have a broken bone,” Zikhali said.
