Man arrested for allegedly murdering KZN taxi driver
A 24-year-old suspect is expected to appear in court for the alleged murder of a taxi driver and the attempted murder of his conductor.
According to police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala, it is alleged that taxi driver Nkosinathi Mthimkhulu, 23, was at his rented house in Indlanzi Road in Nseleni on June 16 with his conductor when the two men entered the house.
“The suspects allegedly opened fire at them and they were injured. They were transported to a local clinic where Mthimkhulu died.”
Gwala said charges of murder and attempted murder were opened for investigation by Empangeni SAPS.
The suspect was arrested in the early hours of June 28 following an operation by Empangeni police officers.
He is expected to appear in the Empangeni Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
