KZN damage estimated at R2 billion after violence

The cost of damage caused during riots and looting in KwaZulu-Natal is estimated at around R2-billion.

Premier Sihle Zikalala says municipalities lost another R76-million.

He says those who broke the law will be prosecuted.

Economic recovery plans have been presented for KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng after the civil unrest.

On Friday, 30 July, Judge Papi Mosopa found Bongani Masombuka, Sfundo Nkosi, Khumbuzo Makhuba, Brian Makhubedu and Mashudu Malema guilty. Masilela was killed during a failed hijacking in 2017. Learn More
