Calls for speedy decision on Khehla Sitole’s future

President Cyril Ramaphosa must act fast to address issues surrounding Police Commissioner Khehla Sitole.

That’s the view of Eldred de Klerk, Senior Policing and Global Security Specialist from Africa Analysis.

The police commissioner is once again in hot water, this time for not cooperating with an investigation into the murder of anti-gang unit top cop Charl Kinnear.

IPID has laid a criminal complaint against Sitole, who’s denied the allegations.

Just a few months ago Sitole’s fitness to hold office was also questioned.

“We need the Presidency to act with step and the NPA to proceed with some haste because we as a country have now slowly started to lose confidence,” De Klerk said.

“We need action and we need answers and that’s a matter of political will.”
