Khanyi Mbau speaks on her Rocky relationship with her late Father Menzi Mcunu

In this week’s edition of Behind The Story with Pearl Thusi, a very startling conversation ensued with the ever-so-popular Khanyi Mbau. The interview with the media personality promised to be a very intriguing one, so intriguing that they broke it up into two parts.

Part one of the interview saw Khanyi addressing some of her deepest most personal issues starting from her ‘non-existent’ relationship with her father, ex-boyfriend Mandla, her daughter and how her second ex-lover sabotaged her career. When Khanyi opened up the interview by saying she only has these type of conversations with ’emotionally intelligent’ people, we knew things were about to get heated.

As we know her father Menzi Mcunu has passed away, but at the time of the interview her father was in hospital and the reality star revealed that she tried to reach out to him by calling and checking up every single day, but he would not answer her calls. Instead he would answer everybody else’s calls and that left her torn.

However, she would still contact her sister and she would relay the messages.” I am saving my peace protecting my atmosphere. He is never happy about anything. I stopped expecting him to say sorry,” she said. The reality star has made peace with the fact that she and her father are not close but still sees him as her hero.

Despite the many attempts by her father to bring her down, Khanyi still has nothing but love for him. Comments such as “you’re a flop of a person” were abusive to Khanyi hence the reason for them loving each other at a distance. That heartfelt moment lead to a teary Pearl who spoke about her father’s passing and how people do not know what they have till it’s gone.

Social media criticized this about Pearl many times saying she has the tendencies of inserting herself in situations that do not need her unnecessarily. Khanyi then proceeded to talk about how she has little access to her father because of the abuse she suffered as a result of their rocky relationship. It is only at that moment where people understood why Khanyi has not shed a tear for her father at the funeral.

A follower advised her to give herself time to cry, “I saw you grabbing the bull by the horns during your father’s funeral service, I understand that someone had to, but please remember to give yourself time to cry, and break down we all know that you are daddy’s little girl Mina ubabakho I know him ngwawe…you are loved,” Khanyi then responded by saying, “When that moment comes I will…”
