Khama Billiat’s parents have responded to allegations the Kaizer Chiefs player is an age cheat.
Billiat’s parents also backed their son whom they insisted will rediscover his form.
The Kaizer Chiefs forward has been criticised recently for his lack of form particularly in this title-chasing campaign, in which he has scored only one goal, a disappointment for many fans considering the high expectations associated with his name and earnings.
His father, Mustapha, told The Herald he wishes Chiefs can go all the way and win the title so that his son can have breathing space amid such criticism.
He said:
“My wish is for Kaizer Chiefs to win the league so that Khama will get credit and he will be free to decide whether he still wants to be at Kaizer Chiefs or make a move. What surprises me is that people only see the cause of the problem through the branches. They must see the root cause of the problem because we need to uproot the cause of the problem.”
Billiat’s mother Rosa, echoed her husband’s words and also brushed aside claims of her son being an age cheat by South African coach Mlungisi Ngubane.
Billiat’s mother said:
“My child never cheated when it comes to his age at any stage in his career. I kept all my baby cards so that my children when they grow up, they will show their kids. But, what I don’t understand is how a professional coach (Ngubane), who players look up to, can say such things about my son. Maybe, he needs to look himself in the mirror and see what he has achieved as a coach because I don’t believe any good coach would really say such things about a player. How will he expect players to respect him, as a mentor and a gaffer?”

Former South African football player and now manager Mlungisi ‘Professor’ Ngubane, had accused SA based Zimbabwean footballer, Khama Billiat of being an age cheat.
This was after Ngubane said things are no longer the same at Kaizer Chiefs where Billiat plays, saying their manager Shaun Bartlett has stopped standing up during matches.
