Kaizer Chiefs Squad Is Confident Of Title Triumph

Kabelo Mahlasela might not be playing much football for Kaizer Chiefs at the moment, but the attacker is still qualified to offer his opinion about just how far he thinks the Glamour Boys, who are top of the Absa Premiership table, can go.

Amakhosi are currently at the summit after six matches, and all eyes are on the country’s most supported club to see if they will end their four-year trophy drought.

“I think we had a good pre-season and brought in a bunch of good players. The philosophy of the coach also suits the players that we have at Chiefs – and the coach is forever showing us the bigger picture,” said Mahlasela, who is waiting to break into coach Ernst Middendorp’s team in the coming weeks.

He was speaking to journalists at this week’s Shell Helix Ultra Cup event.

The club hasn’t been winning any silverware for many years, so it has to change, hence I think that is why we started on a high note. Everyone wants to be top of the log and it’s not easy. But it shows that we are winning our games and playing good football to be there.”

Mahlasela refused to single out players that could be key for Amakhosi this season, arguing that they all have a role and will push each other along the way.

“We are prepared, and I think and believe we can go all the way. I am saying that because of the things we are doing in training and the philosophy of the coach. And with the players that we have, I think we have enough quality to compete at any given time. Everyone knows their job and you’ve got to deliver. And I think we will push each other all the way,” he said.
