Johannesburg will now have to do with over 200 fewer firefighters this festive season.
That’s after the City fired them.
It says this is because workers belonging to union Demawusa went on an illegal strike earlier this year.
Some of the dismissed firefighters are crying foul.
They say they’re all being tarred with the same brush, even though they weren’t part of the strike.
The City said it had no option but to fire the emergency services personnel.
Demawusa said it will lodge an appeal against the sanctions on Monday.
