2 prison escapees re-arrested after kidnapping Joburg infant

Two prison escapees who kidnapped a four-month-old baby in Johannesburg have been re-arrested.

The two convicted murderers had escaped from Leeuwkop prison.

They abducted the infant during a house robbery in northern Johannesburg.

The homeowner and domestic worker were home at the time.

The baby has since been reunited with her family.

Reaction officers say the men were armed with knives and threatened to harm the baby if security intervened.

They were arrested in Diepsloot after crashing the vehicle they had hijacked.
