Drones used to assess Joburg blast damage

With assessments ongoing, experts say it’s still early to determine whether lack of proper maintenance could have attributed to the Johannesburg explosion.

The incident cracked open roads, claimed one life, injured over 40 people, and wrecked at least 36 vehicles.

Mohamed Dabhelia from Vision Tactical says his company has been using drone technology to investigate the ground under.

“You know that the drones were put into the area we got a bigger picture of the damage and obviously what actually took place,” he said.

“So obviously we await the investigations and proper assessments to finally make a decision and to see what caused this explosion.

“I don’t think you can say there was no maintenance being done that obviously could have caused this to happen.”
