IPL 2018 DD vs CSK: Delhi daredevils successfully defended 163 runs at their home ground after Chennai Super Kings failed to go over the line. CSK lost Shane Watson early in the chase but Ambati Rayudu struck 50 off 29. But no other batsman applied himself in the chase and CSK stood on the losing side.

Chennai Super Kings

Earlier, Delhi Daredevils made a superb comeback in the last over as Harshal Patel and Vijay Shankar scored 26 runs in the Dwayne Bravo’s over to take their side’s total to 162/5 in 20 overs. Delhi had a dismal start as they lost wickets at regular intervals but Patel and Shankar played a decent role in providing their bowlers with some total to defend. Chennai Super Kings have 16 points from the 13 matches they have played so far and are second on the points table.

Delhi Daredevils beat Chennai Super Kings by 34 runs. here’s what MS Dhoni has to say. “I think the wicket slightly got more difficult in the second half. I think it was evident, nobody was middling it well in our innings. Wicket kept getting slower and slower. Their bowlers also bowled really well. Difficult to predict how the wicket behaves, sometimes it behaves well and sometimes it turns like this.

I think if we batted better, we needed someone to score those extra 15-20 runs. (On the loss) Especially looking at the wicket, not that fussed. Have to be practical looking at the wicket as long as we know where we went wrong. Something going wrong is a part and parcel but if you know the reason why it went wrong, it becomes easier to come back from that. We know the reasons and what we could have done slightly different. Overall, yes, slightly disappointed with the loss but I don’t think we could have done much.”

That’s all from this match from our side.

It has been a rather strange season for the Delhi Daredevils. On the one hand, they have had a miserable win-loss ratio this season – they have won just three of the 12 matches they have played thus far – and will finish the season as wooden spooners once again. On the other hand, they have found a group of young batsmen in Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer and Prithvi Shaw around whom they can build a team in the future. For now, it this and the next game serve little purpose other than restoring some pride.
