Dhoni special, bowlers help Chennai Super Kings clinch third straight win

Ajinkya Rahane won his third toss in a row this season as he elected to bowl against Chennai Super Kings in Chennai. Royals are the only team other than Royal Challengers Bangalore who are yet to register a win so far. They chose to go with an unchanged XI.

Super Kings have won both their opening games but last played a match on Tuesday, in Delhi. They chose to leave out Harbhajan Singh in favour of Mitchell Santner who missed all of last season for them with an injury. It is also the first time this season that Super Kings will play with four overseas players, having fielded three in the opening games.

Super Kings now have two left-arm orthodox spinners in the line-up – Ravindra Jadeja being the other – a move possibly made with the knowledge that Royals have only one left-handed batsman.

Chennai Super Kings 1 Shane Watson, 2 Ambati Rayudu, 3 Suresh Raina, 4 MS Dhoni (capt & wk), 5 Kedar Jadhav, 6 Dwayne Bravo, 7 Ravindra Jadeja, 8 Deepak Chahar, 9 Shardul Thakur, 10 Mitchell Santner, 11 Imran Tahir

Rajasthan Royals 1 Ajinkya Rahane (capt), 2 Jos Buttler (wk), 3 Sanju Samson, 4 Steven Smith, 5 Ben Stokes, 6 Rahul Tripathi, 7 K Gowtham, 8 Jofra Archer, 9 Shreyas Gopal, 10 Jaydev Unadkat, 11 Dhawal Kulkarni
