Petrol price likely to increase in August

Motorists can expect to pay more than R18 for a litre of petrol from next week.

Higher oil prices and a weaker rand have put upward pressure on fuel prices.

Preliminary figures from Central Energy Fund show the price of both 93 and 95-grade petrol will increase by up to 80 cents.

Diesel is likely to go up by 46 cents, while paraffin users may have to fork out 47 cents more per litre.

Prices at the pumps are now the highest they’ve ever been in South Africa.
