I was in a bad space after losing #IdoldSA: Mthokozisi Ndaba From the get-go, it was clear that Mthoko was not happy about the final outcome as not only did he not attend the press conference after the Idols finale but also found himself getting criticized for that video that went viral.

In 2017, Mthokozisi had a great run on Idols SA as he not only made it to the Top 10 round of the competition but was also the runner-up after losing the title to Paxton who was 17-years-old at the time.

It’s been almost a year since that incident and now Mthoko has come out to admit that, being on Idols was one of the most trying periods of his musical career.

Speaking to Drum he said he was so determined to win especially after making it into the Top 10 phase of the competition and that he wasn’t prepared to lose.

So when Paxton won instead of him, everything just came down crumbling in his world. “I wasn’t myself at all [that night]. I wanted to make my sister, my community and my fans proud of me. I couldn’t take the defeat.”

The singer also said that he had so many plans for himself and his family if he had won the competition.

“I could have built a proper home for us. It would’ve meant a better life and enhance my music career. “ I could see my dreams and everything I’d worked for being trashed in front of my eyes. I was in a very bad space.”

However, Mthoko is in a much better space now and is fully focusing on his music career, plus he recently got engaged and is expecting his first child with his fiance’
