Half-Time. Uruguay’s half all the way. Luis Suarez opened the scoring, before a deflected shot from Laxalt extended their lead at the 30-minute mark.
To make matters worse for Russia, Smolnikov is sent off after getting a second yellow card. Laxalt beats the defender on the inside and makes a speedy run down the left. The Russian slides and catches the wingback from behind. The ref hands out his 2nd yellow card of the day for the daft challenge and he is off.
The red card forced Russia to remove their best-attacking player Cheryshev. Now they’ve all to do in the 2nd half to try and regain the top spot in Group A.
