It was a packed first half, entertaining play here. Argentina is showing their class but failing to convert their chances but it was Iceland who were SO CLOSE! Caballero fails to clear a back pass properly and Iceland pounce. The ball then breaks for Bjanarson inside the box but he dragged his shot wide with the goal at his mercy. Alarming signs for Argentina.
Lionel Messi had a shot on target! He dances with the ball on the right flank before stepping inside and curling one in but the Icelandic GK is alert and punches it away.
AGUERO! Argentina are up and running in the World Cup 2018! A speculative shot from outside the box comes right on to Aguero’s path and the forward takes a touch and fires a ferocious left-footer in on the turn. That was classic Aguero. What a predator. That was also his first ever World Cup goal.
ICELAND LEVEL! Argentina, so smooth in the attack, are exactly the opposite in defence and Iceland pounce.
