The Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) has written a letter to the Commissioner General of Police instructing to institute investigations into allegations by Norton Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa that Chegutu West MP Dexter Nduna verbally threatened him.
In a letter addressed to Mliswa ZHRC said, “The case has been given reference number ZHRC/CHI/20/19. Kindly quote this reference number for all future communications.
“ZHRC has written to the Commissioner General of Police to investigate the matter as it has an allegation of criminal violation of human rights. The decision has been made in terms of section 243(1)hand Section 243(2) of the constitution of Zimbabwe
In a video that went viral in February, Mliswa accused Nduna, a former Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Transport, of benefitting from an $11 million scandal that rocked the Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (ZINARA).
Nduna took exception to the allegation and demanded that Mliswa respect him and not call him a thief. A defiant Mliswa kept calling Nduna a “thief” arguing that a forensic audit had implicated him. “You are a double thief, a triple thief,” Mliswa said as he persisted with the jibes.
In an attempt to intimidate Mliswa, Nduna then suggested he was going to deal with the Norton MP outside parliament boasting that he had killed people in the past whose names he did not even know.
