Lerato Sengadi, the legally recognised wife Jabulani Tsambo, was not recognised in the obituary of the late rapper as one of his next of kin. The obituary reads: “He is survived by his parents, two sisters Ayanda Tsambo and Zanele Tsambo, his son and nephew.

Rendering a moving poem was young poet Botlhale Boingotlo. South African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO) representative Andre Le Roux says whenever Jabba came in, he always filled the room with his warmth. Business partner to HHP, Seabelo Bodibe shared moments of what it was like for him to work with the rapper who made SeTshwana fashionable. Taking to the podium alongside Jabba’s son and his other sister, Ayanda Tsambo spoke fondly of her brother, “He always encouraged to be positive. He always saw the glass half full.”

A letter from Jabba’s mother was read out by family friend Bothepa Phaka. In the letter, Jabba’s mother says her son grew to be her friend and that not many parents have that privilege. Funeral proceedings included various tributes, musical items, church choir hymns and the procession to Motlalong cemetery where Jabba will be laid to rest.
