Prof Mlisana: Looting and destruction threatening healthcare system

We are in a mess, according to a warning from Professor Koleka Mlisana, co-chair of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on COVID-19.

She says the mass looting and destruction are posing a threat to the healthcare system.

“The concern is that they are not using any non-pharmaceutical interventions and now, everybody who is found looting is carried in police vans to prisons and the question is going to be where then is social distancing, use of masks, in prisons?” Professor Mlisana said.

At least 72 people have died in the unrest and over 1,200 have been arrested.
