
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize is denying that the government failed to protect consumers.
The Competition Commission’s health market inquiry found
South Africans are paying exorbitant fees for private healthcare.
It also found that the treatment offered is often unnecessary.
Mkhize said the government will introduce legislation to fix the health sector.
Mkhize said, “the private sector has to take the responsibility, the government has to take responsibility and everyone else as well because we have to work on the basis of everyone collaborating to say what’s the best way to protect consumers.”
