The Hawks are disputing Nelson Mandela Bay mayor Mongameli Bobani’s claims that they are ganging up on him with the Democratic Alliance.
On Tuesday, the priority crime investigation unit raided Bobani’s home and office.
“The Hawks, they are politically aligned based on the information and evidence that I’ve got. I can stand with this one anywhere in the world,” said Bobani.
Hawks spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi says the unit will not be afraid to do its job.
“We won’t relent from what we are supposed to do. We are doing what we are supposed to do.
“There is a case that has been opened and we are going to investigate without fear or favour,” said Mulaudzi.
