Gustavo Paez explains how Chiefs could be Champions ahead of Downs

Gustavo Paez explains how Chiefs could be Champions ahead of Downs. The PSL has been suspended since mid-March, and up to now the league has not yet communicated about its resumption.

Venezuelan forward Gustavo Paez – who is a former Kaizer Chiefs player – is backing the Soweto giants for the Absa Premiership title, should the 2019/20 season not continue.

So far, the government has given the green light for contact and non-contact sports to resume training, though clubs under the PSL have to wait until the league confirms what is going to happen.

Speaking to the Siya crew from South America, Paez said Amakhosi would be the deserving winners if the season was to end like this.

“I think it would be fair for Kaizer Chiefs (to be the winners), because they have shown good performances during the whole tournament (season), and even if Sundowns equals the number of games (22) they will not reach the Chiefs tally (of points),” said Paez.

“It is true that in the last games Kaizer Chiefs lost many points but they continue to be above the others. So, for me if the tournament ended today, Kaizer Chiefs would be fair champions,” the 30-year-old added.
