Gumede will respect party decision: Zikalala

Mayor Zandile Gumede

KZN ANC Chairperson Sihle Zikalala says it’s foreign to the party that individuals resist when being recalled or redeployed.

He was speaking at a memorial lecture in honour of late struggle stalwart Winnie Madikizela-Mandela in Hluhluwe, on the KZN North Coast.

This comes while the organisation tries to resolve a stalemate with eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede.

Gumede recently withdrew her resignation.

Zikalala says as a disciplined member of the ANC, Gumede will respect the decision of the party.

“I don’t believe she retracted her resignation because she’s refusing. Whatever becomes the decision, will have to be embraced by all of us. ”

On Monday the province is expected to meet with the top six, and on Tuesday the eThekwini Municipality will hold a special council meeting to elect its new leadership.
