Court rules Gumede did not intentionally violate bail conditions

The court has ruled that former eThekwini mayor Zandile Gumede did not intentionally violate her bail conditions.

She appeared at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Gumede is out on R50,000 bail for her alleged involvement in a multi-million rand waste tender.

She is facing charges of fraud and corruption.

On Thursday the Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) and the Hawks cracked down on 16 people linked to the case.

She is due back in court on 15th January 2020 for her criminal case.
