A Durban family is accusing staff at Umlazi’s Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital of negligence after the death of their relative.
Nolwazi Mhlongo gave birth on 27 December but died of a brain injury this week.
The family is demanding a proper explanation from the hospital because they simply don’t believe what they are being told.
The KwaZulu-Natal health department says it is not able to publicly discuss clinical matters or respond directly to the allegations raised, due to legal implications.
However, it adds that arrangements are being made to continue engagements with the Mhlongos.
