Herman Mashaba – Geoff Makhubo’s appointment is state captured
That’s what former Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba is calling the appointment of Geoff Makhubo as his replacement.
He says he’s shocked the ANC overlooked corruption allegations against Makhubo. He’s likened his appointment to that of former President Jacob Zuma.
“We’ve now seen the second movie unfolding,” he said. Mashaba has launched a new initiative to find solutions for South Africa’s problem, coming directly from the people.
His People’s Dialogue will be conducted with former DA leader Mmusi Maimane. The pair recently quit the Democratic Alliance. Mashaba said the initiative is not a political initiative, but rather one that works directly with the community.

While many of us were lazing around the pool or watching TV, there were huge celebrations at the weekend — Dr Duda and Karabo Maroga tied the knot.
The Mi Casa muso married publicist Karabo in two ceremonies, a white wedding in Jane Furse in Limpopo on Saturday and another in Tweefontein, Mpumalanga, on Sunday. Read more
