Calls for gender-based violence council

With the recent spate of femicide, many women continue to live in fear in South Africa.
On Saturday, a march from the Post Office to Parliament was held in Cape Town demanding an urgent response from the government.
The family of UCT student Uyinene Mrwetyana, who was murdered two years ago, also took part.
The Minister of Women in the Presidency, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, has committed to establishing a council to deal with femicide and gender-based violence.
