Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku states COVID-19 strategy is focused

Gauteng Health MEC Bandile Masuku has rubbished the assertion that Gauteng has no proper strategy to fight COVID-19.
He was responding to comments by Wits professor Alex van den Heever during an interview with eNCA’s Xoli Mngambi on Wednesday.
Van den Heever asserted the Western Cape has had a stronger response to controlling the spread of the virus, in part, because they have a publicised health plan.
“On the outcomes, the Western Cape appears to be a lot more successful than Gauteng. It’s difficult to assess Gauteng’s prevention strategy because not a lot of it is in a public strategic document,” he said.
Masuku said the province’s strategy has been quite focused.
“There is evidence on the work that we have done. He must indicate what does he mean when he says the strategies are not working.”
The province is currently in the process of securing more beds as infections continue increasing. Coronavirus Hotline Number: 0800 029 999 from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday
