Gauteng DoE accepting late online school applications

The Gauteng Education Department says parents who haven’t found schools for their children will be able to make late online applications from Wednesday.
Many children still haven’t been placed yet. Schools across the country will officially open on Wednesday. Department spokesperson Steve Mabona said over 290,000 pupils have been placed in schools, with approximately 700 parents appealing the placements.
Mabona said 60 percent of the appeals had been dealt with and the remainder will be completed shortly.
The spokesperson said for the next two weeks they would be working tirelessly to resolve all the issues of placements as well as negotiations with schools who have complaints and concerns. The online system will be officially closed on 24 January.
