The case against former Eastern Cape Health MEC Sindiswa Gomba and 11 others is back in court on Tuesday. The accused are expected to appear in the East London High Court.
They stand accused of defrauding the Buffalo City municipality of millions of rands for the funeral of former president Nelson Mandela in 2013.
It’s alleged they misled the municipal council into accepting it was responsible for the financial cost of transporting mourners to various venues where memorial services were held. Gomba and co-accused face an array of charges, including fraud, money laundering and corruption.
