South African music sensation Makhadzi is once again making headlines, this time for all the wrong reasons. A former dancer has publicly accused the award-winning performer of failing to pay her salary for two months, reigniting conversations around how artists treat their supporting teams.
The dancer, identified as Melita Ramokgosi, took to Facebook on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, to share her frustration. In the post, she alleged that Makhadzi had promised to pay her after returning from a tour in Mozambique, but the money was never received.
According to Melita’s social media post, she worked with Makhadzi between May and June 2025 and claims she was not paid for those two months. She expressed her anger and disappointment, saying she had no choice but to go public after being ignored privately.
“Please tell your fave to pay me for the two months she owes me between May and June . Now this is the reason I stopped working with her. I was told they would pay me when they arrive in SA from Mozambique, but NOTHING!!!” Melita wrote.
To support her claims, Melita shared alleged WhatsApp conversations between herself and Makhadzi. In one of the screenshots, she appeared to repeatedly reach out to the star, asking about the overdue payment, but received no response.
Makhadzi Accused of Owing Dancer Two Months’ Salary
In addition to the messages, Melita uploaded a video clip of herself performing on stage alongside Makhadzi during one of the artist’s live shows. She emphasized that she had fulfilled her professional obligations and deserved to be compensated for her work.
“You honestly not a nice person. I know you can see my messages and you’re ignoring them, and my calls. The fact that you want me to beg you to pay me my salary I worked for is crazy. Can you pay me so I can leave you alone?” Melita allegedly wrote to the singer in one of the messages.
Her post quickly gained traction on social media, with fans and industry insiders weighing in. Many expressed disappointment over the allegations, while others urged Makhadzi to address the matter publicly to clear her name.
This latest accusation comes just days after reports surfaced that Makhadzi may be facing serious financial difficulties. According to media reports, the singer is at risk of losing some of her assets due to an unsettled R200,000 debt owed to a consultant.
These financial troubles have sparked widespread concern among fans and industry observers, particularly as Makhadzi remains one of the most booked and celebrated performers in South Africa.
The allegations of unpaid wages have only added fuel to the fire, painting a troubling picture of the star’s current situation.
The public reaction has been swift and intense. Social media platforms, especially Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), have been flooded with comments, debates, and opinions.
Some fans have criticized Makhadzi for allegedly failing to pay someone who helped bring her shows to life. “Dancers work hard and deserve to be paid. It’s not fair,” one user commented.
Others have defended the star, urging people to wait for her side of the story before passing judgment. “Makhadzi has always been kind to her team. Let’s not assume she’s guilty without hearing her,” another user wrote.
This incident has once again highlighted a long-standing issue in the entertainment industry — the mistreatment and underpayment of dancers and support staff.
Dancers often travel long distances, rehearse for hours, and perform alongside major artists, yet they are frequently the last to be paid or acknowledged. Industry figures are calling for stronger contracts and better payment systems to protect dancers and other behind-the-scenes workers.
“Artists wouldn’t have world-class performances without their dancers and crew. They deserve fair treatment and timely payment,” said a Johannesburg-based entertainment lawyer.
As of now, Makhadzi has not released an official statement responding to Melita’s claims. Her management team has also remained silent on the matter, leaving fans and the public waiting for her version of events.
Given Makhadzi’s popularity and influence in the music industry, her response — or lack thereof — could have a significant impact on her public image. Many believe that addressing the issue openly could help ease tensions and clarify misunderstandings.
Makhadzi, known for her energetic performances and chart-topping hits, is facing mounting scrutiny as allegations about unpaid wages and financial struggles continue to surface.
While the facts are still unfolding, this situation has reignited conversations about accountability, professionalism, and the treatment of support staff in the entertainment industry.
Fans and industry watchers now await Makhadzi’s next move — whether she will address the claims head-on or allow the legal and public discourse to shape the narrative for her.
