The destruction of crops by heavy rains in some parts of the country is likely to trigger food price increases, according to the South African Farmers Development Association. The prices of crops such as tomatoes and potatoes have already skyrocketed.
Heavy rains have wreaked havoc in many parts across the country, including Ladysmith, Bloemhof, and the Drakensberg.
Several homes and infrastructure were damaged and families were displaced.
