Five people have been killed in shack fires across Cape Town on Christmas Day. More than 150 fires in informal settlements have been reported since the beginning of December.
Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Service Spokesperson Jermaine Carelse says close to 20 fatalities have been recorded since the start of December.
“These fires occur in the early hours of the morning between midnight and 5am. There are lots of suspected causes for the fires.
