First coronavirus deaths in South Africa

The Department of Health has confirmed the first coronavirus related deaths in South Africa. The first two COVID-19 fatalities occurred in the Western Cape, one at a public hospital and one at a private hospital.
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize has also informed the public that the number of coronavirus cases in the country have tipped the 1,000 mark. South Africa has begun a 21-day national lockdown in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.
