Firefighters are making good progress managing a blaze in Kluitjieskraal outside Wolseley amid challenging conditions.
The fire, which started on Monday, has been fuelled by warm temperatures and strong winds.
At least 6,000 hectares have burnt and about 40 structures have been lost.
The Cape Winelands District Municipality’s Jo-Anne Otto: “The fire on the Kluitjieskraal side of the mountains has been contained, however, the hot, windy weather is conducive to flare-ups and as a result, teams are monitoring the area closely while they continue with mopping-up operations. The fire on the Silwerfontein farm in the Gouda/Saron area is till burning out of control.”
