Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana has proposed a temporary R1.50 per litre fuel levy reduction.
He tabled the proposal in the National Assembly. The reduction is expected to support motorists ahead of the expected fuel hikes in the coming months.
Godongwana said, “a temporary reduction of fuel levy by R1.50 cents per litre from April to the 31st of May.”
“The proposed reduction will not require adjustments to the budget as the proposal is not expected to have an impact on the fiscal framework. It will be funded by liquidation of a portion of the strategic crude oil reserves.
