ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula says the party must create a crime-fighting unit with a similar model to the Scorpions.
It was a specialized crime unit that operated under the National Prosecuting Authority between 2001 and 2009.
The Scorpions probed several high-ranking politicians including former President Jacob Zuma and ANC member Tony Yengeni.
They were disbanded in 2009 and replaced by the Hawks. Mbalula says law enforcement must be given.
“What the ANC must advocate for is the strengthening of law enforcement in the country. So comrades, we are not wrong when we say go back to the model of the Scorpions,” he said.
