Call for joint efforts in fighting GBV

Young people are being urged to take a stand against gender-based violence.
Officials warn that the number of rape and gender-based violence cases is increasing.
Police Commissioner Khehla Sitole says dealing with the horrors of GBV should be the responsibility of society as a whole.
“Young people are both victims and perpetrators of crime. The scourge of gender-based violence and femicide disproportionally affects young women. It has been dubbed a twin pandemic alongside COVID-19 and cannot be left to continue in a democratic society,” Sitole said.
“The youth are a very important stakeholder in silencing the guns that are said to devour the youth, women, and children.
“You must therefore observe and treat today with the vital importance it deserves, as robust solution-based engagements are the key to get to the root of the problems that are deteriorating the moral fibre of our society. We do not want to be counting statistics because each digit represents a life lost or future vandalized.”

Social media star Lasizwe Dambuza dropped two major bombshells about his sister, Khanyi Mbau’s love life on the latest episode of Drink or Tell the Truth on Friday 17 September.
Khanyi Mbau made headlines earlier this month after she left her businessman boyfriend Kudzai Mushonga high and dry in Dubai while she caught a flight back to Johannesburg without telling him. To add insult to injury, the actress seems to be in the process of making a song with the words Shiya indoda eDubai. This means “leave the man in Dubai” when translated to English. Learn More
