Update on viral video of angry n@ked female customer – Capitec Bank speaks out

Capitec Bank is investigating an incident that took place at one of its branches in which a n@ked woman is seen screaming and breaking computers among other items in a viral video circulating on social media.

Speaking to The Mercury today, Capitec said it was baffled by the incident.

“We at Capitec are as perplexed by this matter, which happened, as everyone else, and we are trying to get to the bottom of this,” said Capitec.

The bank could not provide further information as to why the woman was in the bank or why she reacted in this manner. It is also unknown at which branch the incident occurred.

In the video, the woman is heard screaming as she stands completely n@ked next to a male consultant.

She then grabs something from his desk and smashes it on the floor before doing the same to his desktop computer.

The n@ked woman then moves to another consultants’ desk and does the same while screaming.

Simultaneously, staff and other customers are seen quickly exiting the bank in shock.

A woman believed to be one of the staff is then heard asking: “Where is the security?”

The crowd gathered outside gasp as the woman continues to make her way through the bank, smashing things on the floor.

People scream “Stop it!” moments before a man with a reflector jacket, who is believed to be a security guard, enters the bank.

The guard escorts her out of the bank.

In one of the Facebook posts of the video, it is stated that the incident occurred in Strand in the Western Cape.

Commenting on the post, one woman said: “This woman is clearly mentally ill and people regard this video as a joke.

“I think it’s absolutely disgusting for people to make fun of her. What if it was your mother or sister parading n@ked like that?

“Mental breakdowns happen every day and I’ve seen how debilitating their effects are on families. Educate yourselves before judging.”
