Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize has cautioned against believing every piece of coronavirus news that comes across your social media timeline or via Whatsapp.
This after a 38-year-old man was confirmed as the first South African to be infected with COVID-19.
“Stop spreading fake news that either ridicule the efforts of the health workers or that frighten people…” Mkhize said.
Tracers teams are on the ground tracing those who had contact with the infected man.
The man’s wife and kids are not showing any symptoms yet and are taking necessary precautions.
The patient and his wife were part of a group of 10 people who arrived back in South Africa from Italy on 1 March.
