Roche Diagnostics in Midrand is seeking an Export Control Officer for a 1 year contract position. The Export Control Officer will be responsible for the application of all Export Control Certificates in Nigeria (SONCAP), Kenya (CoC), Tanzania (CoC), and South Africa (LoA).
Among other duties the role would entail:
Prepares, reviews and manages EC submissions for regional approvals
Assures quality of services meet internal and external customer requirements
Remains current on developments in the Export Control field(s)
Exercises judgment in planning and organizing work
Assures that filed information and the associated systems are kept updated
Uses best practices to ensure success in areas of assigned responsibility
Troubleshoots complex EC federal problems and issues
Supports the Customer Experience Manager in EC audits preparations
Maintains expert knowledge of federal requirements for medical devices for initial clearance,
Looks for creative/innovative and scientifically sound approaches to gain clearance of medical devices and associated products
Identify if export licenses are needed.
Coordinates with EC Global in the Submission of license application to the federal agencies concerned, when applicable – Creation of license exceptions in SAP GTS.
Implements or Improves the company’s EMCP (Export Control Management & Compliance Program) on site with special attention on the EC (Export Control) training program.
Keep the general manager aware and informed on EC compliance issues.
Define the local EC training plan, delivers the training, monitors the training.
Ensures the manual screening procedures and tools are used.
Enables and complete the timely screening of local business partners.
Pays special attention to foreign trade business.
Oversees the local usage of the EC contractual clauses in procurement and sales.
Escalates EC issues to the CECO (Chief Export Compliance Officer) in any case of red flag, suspected misuse of items, non-compliance violations, or any local enforcement activities by federal agencies.
In an exporting affiliate or site, maintains the local SOP(s) related to EC, classifies the local items (or delegate), reviews/releases documents blocked by SAP GTS (SAP Global Trade Services) if this service is used, applies for EC licenses at federal agencies if needed (or delegate) and ensures adherence to license conditions
You, as an ideal candidate, will have the following skills, experience and education:
A Bachelor degree in physical/natural sciences, environmental engineering or equivalent is preferred.
Fluent in English (verbal and written)
Demonstrated working knowledge of domestic and international regulations relative to the importation of medical device industry
Demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate HS code requirements for local and international markets
