Job Description

Hello future Executive Assistant to the Chief Value Officer

FirstRand believes that its people are its single most important resource and will not operate in a sector unless it has people who are right for that market and who share FirstRand’s business values. We recruit self-starters who have a passion for what they do. We empower them, hold them accountable and reward them appropriately. We value diversity in our people, particularly for the way that this contributes to innovative thinking. If you think you will flourish in our environment, and you believe you have the necessary skills and competencies for the position advertised, then we are looking for you!

The role is to assist the FirstRand Group Chief Value Officer (CVO), in the execution of his mandate.

Are you someone who can:

Create greater capacity for the CVO to focus on the strategic aspects of his portfolio by working independently to manage the effective functioning of her meetings, forums and projects.
Preparation for, facilitation and attendance of key meetings:
Forums chaired by the CVO – setting agendas, liaising with the presenters and attendees.
Following up on key action items on behalf of the CVO.
Preparation of documents/submissions for Sratco/board/regulatory and other stakeholder engagements, as well as handling certain matters on behalf of the CVO. The role requires research to be performed regularly on various topics (internal and external) and a significant level of interaction with the group’s segments and operating businesses.
Coordination/orchestration of CVO-initiated projects or commitments.
Proactive identification of issues that could impact the CVO’s portfolio.
Liaison with the various executive teams in the CVO’s portfolios to ensure effective communication standards.

Have at least five years’ work experience and a track record of delivery

You will have access to:

The successful candidate must be articulate and professional and able to interact with people at a senior level, both within the organisation and externally. This role frequently requires working to tight deadlines and will often involve working long hours. S/he must be able to work innovatively in his/her effort to add the maximum value to the role and be motivated to take on multiple tasks, remain calm under pressure and manage time well. Due to the nature of the work, confidentiality and ethics are of utmost importance.
The successful candidate must be a self-starter, able to operate independently rather than rely on instruction as this is a highly pressurised and sometimes unstructured environment. The role requires a combination of good communications skills, technical and analytical capabilities, flexibility of approach to solving problems and high emotional intelligence.

This position would particularly suit an individual with a strong career track record, who seeks exposure to high-level strategic decision making and sees the EA role as a foundational step in building a long-term career within the group.

We can be a match if you have:

A proven ability to be analytical and manage data effectively.
Possess the maturity to manage sensitive information and confidentiality.
Ability to multi-task while still delivering high quality results.
Ability to function as an effective and respected consultant to internal clients.
