Gauteng: At 11H56 Saturday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of an industrial incident at a landfill on Olifantsfontein Road in Clayville.
Reports from the scene indicate an excavator had fallen over into the landfill dam due when a sandbank gave way.
The driver of the excavator a 47-year-old male had sustained fractures to his upper limb.
The patient managed to extricate himself from the excavator however due to his injuries was only able to get as far as the tracks.
Medics stabilised the patient with advanced life support intervention and once treated was immobilized and safely carried to an awaiting ambulance.
The patient was transported in a serious condition to the hospital for further treatment.
