Those implicated in state capture will be able to cross-examine witnesses at the commission of inquiry.
But, they will first have to seek permission from the commission before they can do so.
The Judicial Commission of Inquiry into allegations of state capture has made public the rules that will govern its proceedings.
Chairperson Judge Raymond Zondo says this will help witnesses understand the functions of the commission.
Judge Zondo and his team will probe the abuse of political influence in exchange for government business.
Next week, the commission will confirm the official starting dates for its hearings, scheduled for next month.
